    Screwfix gloves for skimming etc!

Tiger grip gloves on amazon are decent, strong and thin so you can feel when your skimming etc.

    Beads for floating

What I do whether its hardwall or sand and cement is do 1 coat and scratch it. Then run screeds across wall, level. Second coat then rule off screeds.

    Beads for floating

Surely you don't need a bead to get a wall flat and level!

    Lumpy walls

It's a rough job job but who has lights like that! They look absolutely shocking!

    Air vent

The windows are not vented but I can leave them locked slightly open.
  10. Hillsy

    Air vent

Yes it's my house mate. That's exactly what I was thinking, central heating and double glazed windows there's no point in keeping it.
  11. Hillsy

    Air vent

Do I block it up or leave it? 1930s house, solid walls throughout. I've come across these vents many times but always recommend to leave them. Windows are all double glazed with windows that I can leave open slighlty so why the need to keep it! Thoughts? Cheers

    I've got wood.

Where do you get handles from?

    Sunday morning laugh. (My builder)

I dont really use it much just went on there back in Jan when I thought things would be a bit quiet but haven’t hardly used it. But sometimes I look at it just for the comedy value.

    For fucksake!

    It’s still s**t gear though
  25. Hillsy

    For fucksake!

I’m finding multi so much better than what it used to be. Not saying it’s a great product but I seem to be able to get a much nicer finish and it seems easier to get flat and smooth with less work. I think the less trowels you give it the better it goes (y)(y)
  26. Hillsy

    Lights

I’ve just got 2 of them. I can’t believe how good these are for the money, the sockets at the back are a great idea. I ain’t even used them yet and I’m thinking of ordering a few more!

    Market Research

If it can carry pretty much carry most of my skimming stuff in 1 trip I’d happily pay £200. The more important important question though is how practical will it actually be? I mean not every house is the same and access is always different.
  28. Hillsy

    Thoughts on this?

That joint to the right of the window is really something

    Advise needed

Is the the customer going to treat it or leave as is?
  30. Hillsy

    Advise needed

Yes if it’s untreated a light sand with a fine paper should remove it. The Multi-Finish burns the wood but a light sand should do the trick
  31. Hillsy

    Advise needed

    Sanding it down should work

Unhappy with plaster work, am I being unreasonable.

Obv Obviously what when wrong is he laid it on and troweled up with his hands.
  33. Hillsy

    Spatulas/Speedskims Use on skimming.

I do use the Speedskim SF on big ceilings but still not convinced by it. Once the the second goes on I flatten with the Speeskim ST then give it 10 and go over with the SF but after that I find it not great but maybe my timing need sorting.

WARNING TO ALL Do not let this donut anywhere near your work

I don’t understand how you can be plastering with someone for 3 weeks and not realise that they are no good!
  35. Hillsy

    Speedskim pole attachment

Yeah that’s what happens it just slides off like it’s unclipped. The thing is they ain’t that cheap for a shitty bit of plastic. If they were like a 5er I wouldn’t give a s**t.
  36. Hillsy

    Speedskim pole attachment

Does anyone else’s pole attachment come loose and don’t tighten anymore. It’s the second one I’ve had and the last one done the same thing!
  37. Hillsy

Unhappy with plaster work, am I being unreasonable.

You don't want to leave do you, Lurpak has smoothed you over! On a serious note though you should get a refund, I just don't know how someone can leave a finish like that. Did he have a trowel or did he lay it on with his hands?

    Powered Now

Just thought I’d share a great business tool that I use called Powered Now. It’s basically a quote, invoice and job management/scheduling app that’s really good. It’s abit pricey if you go for the higher option but still it’s really useful. Check it out! Oh and no I don’t work for them before...

    Dry MultiFinish

That’s true haha! It just bugs me and I like to get everything perfect and when I see a dried wall look like that it gives me nightmares!
  43. Hillsy

    Dry MultiFinish

How does that work then? I’m assuming it changes the colour of the multi?
  44. Hillsy

    Dry MultiFinish

Has anyone else got issues with multi when it dries? The issue being is looks like dog s**t! It’s flat, smooth and looks mint painted but when dry it looks like I’ve brushed water everywhere. I only use water on my trowel when trowelling up so I can’t put my finger on it.
