B and q near me has about 5-6 pallets of it, all different kinds too. As soon as BG comes in there are people waiting at 6am, this stuff they cant sell.
does anyone know if B and Q now only stock make good and have scrapped BG then?
i think it was over watering after applying. I pvaed the walls three or so times the days before and just before plastering. I noticed that ifI wasnt fast enough on big walls the plaster would go off too quick so when I was doing my first and second dry trowel to polish it up, i needed to add...
Im finishing my last room out of 4 this weekend but Ive got to tackle a corbel next. Its rounded and been done in a mix of lime and gypsum over its life. It looks like its going to be a f**k*r to redo..
any advice on how to get a smooth finish on this? Im not sure a trowel will work. Literally...
Yeah, to be honest, I've had all the downstairs done by a professional plasterer and they used multi. That was a year ago and no issues yet. I'm plastering upstairs now so hopefully no problems.
The worry is moisture cant escape, but with lime walls and lime mortar I've been told it will escape...
not sure if they have any but its 100 miles away.. probably a bit too far. Just hoping merchants start getting it in stock with BG's 300% production increase.. 18th of may was branded everywhere as the date places will get it and TP / wickes / Buildbase / smaller places have no stock and no...
I've been calling around again, no one seems to have any nor know when any is coming in within a 20mile radius of Milton Keynes.. New bags with expiry in September already on eBay which is an absolute joke. £200 for 5 bags and my baby is due in under 2 months now and still no walls.. f**k**g...
Dont you have a guarantee of work with a new build? Usually registered under a NHNC builders guarantee for 10 years.. worth checking before you do the work yourself. The contractor probably wont go near it if you have a go first.
I've gone for one of those swanky designer rads with big holes between the slats so not sure how a reflector would work. The last owners used that horrible silver backing paper (3 in one s**t). having spent days peeling it off I can't do it to myself to ruin my beautiful plaster job :risas...
Need to test it doesnt leak before I put flooring down. Dont want to turn it on Dec and have an indoor swimming pool. I'm a better plasterer than a plumber and thats saying something..
I've plastered a few walls, part of the lime plaster behind the rad had totally gone so I had to pull away about 1.5m2 of it and bond before skim. The skim is dry, the bonded skim part still not. Once its totally dry I'll mist and paint before hanging the rad.
Once its been painted and the rad...
Hey.
Managed to get my hands on some 12.5kg finishing plaster. It sounds the same as multi-finish but in smaller bags and double the price.
google searching doesnt show anything so im assuming its the same stuff? Wondering if I need to use it any different to multi which Ive just got the hand...
Selco MK / Coventry / hemel have just opened - 7am on wednesday and none of them have any plaster. They closed on the day of lockdown. How does that work?! I really dont get it..
How did you find that? Ive called everywhere and theres none around i need like 5 bags so looks like ill be buying from the bay if BG dont sort something.
How has it got this bad? No other materials seem to be low in stock so they?
Maybe, all their systems show full stock 'plenty of it'.. maybe the shops have existing customers orders / big national deliveries who have been contacted to give them first dibs.
I had a message from BG on their FB messanger saying merchants and DIY shops should be getting some in mid next...
been calling all around the merchants who were shut over the lockdown who have only just reopened (Buildbase), and none of their stores have any.. No idea why because they were meant to have just reopened. Makes me think their staff are just sticking them all on the bay over the last few weeks...
Surely at this time when we are still all in lock down DIY'ers have the perfect opportunity to use it ;) Professionals shouldn't be going to customers houses whilst they're there so it will all just end up in a shed for the next 5 weeks until we are allowed back to work - give it to the...
Not sure what's worst: an architect trying to be a tradesman, or a tradesman thinking they're an architect  Trust me, works both ways when you visit a site lol.

I've been sitting waiting for more plaster to finish my DIY project. As I'm not in the trade I have no links to people who sell the stuff so I'm waiting to see when places like B&Q will get it so I can stop my walls from crumbling. Speaking...
definitely right - theyve extended their holiday another week! Lol. Now not back until may.. when I suppose they can buy and move on.
anyone heard more about if BG will open their factories again? i cant find any anywhere now..
Another wall done and dry! I plastered it first with the skirting then decided to take it off so had to fill the bottom.. think it went alright. All the marks make it look pretty poor but its smooth and was a rough lime wall.
I've just ordered better PVA - some Unibond stuff.. wish I'd seen this first. I'll try wetting the wall better next time and getting a few more diluted PVA mixes before I apply the plaster.
I did a bit of a test on the last wall and I did a 1:3 mix day before, then another 1:3 mix before I...
This is where people who have lied on tax returns get stung though! would hate to be a taxi driver / used car salesman right about now.. 80% of £5 a week
