Bit of advice if anyone can help. Me partners mum & dad have just stripped off the wallpaper in there new front room with a steamer and underneath is egg shell paint. Problem is in large patches the egg shell paint has come off also with the wallpaper....
The original plan was to...
Haha... As soon as I posted this I thought oh what have I done! And the reply's confirm that.. Lol
not sure what it is but you come accross what seems like thin hardboard usually with a artex kind of finish... Not a clue what it actually is, maybe wood maybe not I don't know but as a novice I...
Not got any at mo... If you just imagine a chimney breast with a square hole at the bottom where a fire used to sit, and all round the square hole about 60cm all round, The plaster has been knocked off to bare brick. Towards the external corners the plaster is still there and obviously above...
I'm Fine with the skimming it all. It was just the patching really. The gap in depth is just right for some plasterboard if it can be attached. Seemed alot easier to board it than bonding it all.
Hi guys, after some tips on patching up where a fireplace has been removed.
It's down to bare brick behind where the fire place used to sit. My idea was to use plasterboard to patch up and level the brick with the plaster remaining on chimney breast.
Hows best to secure plasterboard to...
Cheers nisus if you use the contract paint is it ok to then go over that with emulshion whilst still not fully dry or does that defeat the object of the contract paint?
Hi new to this plastering game lol...
Have just done some plastering at my sisters. Basically corner fire place was removed leaving bare brick on 2 connecting walls.
Bonded all the brick work + a little area around the tops of walls where a dado rail was removed then multi finish the...
Hey all,
Bit of advice on skimming. I'm just learning and more of a DIY with it really but how do you make a neat external corner?
Obviously got beads on the corners and I notice Pro's usually leave the tip of the metal showing through when they have finished a wall... Mine look messy...
I was using a small bag mixed in a 10 ltr bucket size. Can't remember the mix off the top of my head but mixed to the quantity stated on the bag to mix the whole bag. Got me board up just 8x4, but the bit left had gone off in the bucket. Same with the next mix.
I don't dare mix bigger...
Hmm sounds like best sticking with the dry wall then!
As a newbie to this Iv been having a problem with the dry wall going off fast in the bucket?? About 10-15 mins, any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Cheers
Anyone used this foam adhesive much for fixing plasterboard on block Walls ect.
Usually comes in tube and conected to an applicator gun. Pink grip do 1 as do insta stik. The latter actualy does one now where u don't need the gun.
So does anyone use this instead of mixing up the dry wall...
Hi all when trying to learn myself skimming I did the kitchen. First few Walls were ropey to say the least. I left 2 with the intention to come back to them and re-do at some point.
They have had a coat of emulsion on them, well actually the stuff you buy for fresh plaster that doesn't need...
Ha yeah that's why I didn't really fancy taking it off. Will build up with some bonding prior to skimming. Will easy-fill do? Just Iv got a bag of that already?
Cheers guys. The boards are Dab'd on brickwork. It's a slight bend at one side of the board where it was stood for a week.
Course?? Not been on one spunky. Self taught skimming, with a bit of help from a plasterer I know. Did many a s**t Walls before I picked it up.. Ha!
I can take the board...
Hi all, got to do a bit of skimming for my dad over some plasterboard that has just been put up.
Problem is there is a meter long step in the middle at the joint of 1 of the boards. I think the board has bowed a little while stood before they put it up.
Am I best using some easy fill or...
