Use easi fill lodan will be a better job as Clem bob said its not about u showing to mrs smith ur making the effort u mite make it worse by re skimming it..go bk wen the same daylight is hitting the wall or ur pissing in the wind spend half hour make sure uve filled ur hollows then go bk nxt day to sand down or get some stuff that sets rapid and you can sand after a hour..its nowt to do really with experience etc daylight shined against a reskimmed plastered wall is any1s enemy and those who Say it isn't are lying..chin up and just keep doing wat ur doing..my guess tho is using the same gear is a big no no on reskims it looks shite wen its on plasterboard let alone re skim..mix separate batches I mean u shud have plenty of time pal on domestic
Yeah I agree mate gonna bin the using the same gear mixes as as far as I can remember was the only difference.....the f**k**g stress is going to do me in

what were the walls like before you reskim them the background see I find you not to bad one coating on higher suction walls eg two tight coats
Quite shiny pain mate so not much suction...i think that was my downfall...low suction then wet coat on wet coat equalled everything shifting around

Weve all been caught out pal... dont beat yourself up about it..... plumbers have leaks, sparkies have trips.... thats life.....

If your using same bucket mixes you need a bit of suction on the walls to get a decent finish. I always find it finishes better.

we always use bonding agent on stuff like this also bit of bonding in your scratch coat mate trust me it would have come out better

Yeah your right mate but I only been going a year and my first complaint so got me a bit down.....ive managed to drink even more than a normal sunday

What do you use? a grit one or something else

My 1st complaint wanted £600 back and she snagged one wall on the biggest landing and stairs you have ever seen.....turned out the decorator wanted more for painting it than i did for skimming it......... i do damp courses so will expect lots of calls in the next 10years.....lol.

Fair play for your honesty Lodan. No one is perfect and the fact that you are standing by it will serve you well in the years to come.

Post up the low bits aswell as the high bits people more likely to help you out if they think youre honest

Try not to over think it, it's just one of things that has happened to us all.
Easi-fill or joint cement may be the better though as re skimming may not make it any better

I got a tub of the bg jointing compound so might give it a go after all as everyone seems to be advising it

Ready for a bashing but want some advice anyway...did a hall, stairs and landing a few weeks ago and had a call saying one of the walls is wavey when the light shines down it, been and looked and customer is right, so said will pop after work and re-do it...rest is fine but I did that wall 2 coats from 1 bucket and its the only one not right, will that be the reason? Putting wet on wet moving the first coat around when trowelling it up, first time ive had this so after a bit of insight. Customer says it looks fine with the lights on just when the daylight hits it....did I maybe put water to it to early?
When I skim a wall wher there down light I make sure the wall nice and flat if not it going look like the Irish Sea .And if u over trowel a wall your asking for trouble

:wtf:

This is all of them one coating T***s fault from the other thread,

Now look what you've all done :coffe:

Its pretty bad but customer says they're not shining a light across it even though you can see the architrave is glowing....looked grand before painting as I went back a week after skimming to fit coving, every other wall painted and looks fine

Yeah I know if you shine a wall light or something up plaster it will show things up but to be honest this wall is shite in the normal daylight....didnt see anything when I did and its smooth to run your hand across just waves with the light
I've seen this before when the trowel is angled a little sharp on the wet plaster. Also, did you evenly apply the pva?

Evenly apply pva? I rollered it all on the wall and took any excess off when the roller got a bit dry

I had the same problem with this wall when painted and the light went down the wall. I had no problems sleeping that night. Forgot to say I used the s*p*r*lex

as to the original question anyone any ideas to what I done wrong that would have caused the waviness? Hit it to early, to thick, 1st coat to wet when putting second coat on?

All of the above possibly but easily done . As others have said easifill or ames not reskim

I always use new gear to second coat as I've had it ripple with the same gear .

That wall like a mirror the decorator coming for u lol
Aint like a mirror...the halogen hes shining down it just gives that impression....although my walls are always a bit shiney:)

I reckon it's not 2 coating it properly, also not getting it flat enough to begin with. speedskim have made this a lot less likely. But I've had some walls get me too and I put much more effort in then most, don't feel too bad it happens.

Like others, we all fall victim now and again. Two things. 1) are you using good lighting? 2) I speedskim everything. just such a good tool for flatness.
