How much is it now? I used to see pallets in local travis perkins and b&q but I haven't seen it since the new year.

Think they might have stopped buying it in.

I think if the mach#1 version didnt has its "issues" then this version would have been better accepted... the last time I used it it went very well.... Waiting for my friend to finish painting and and I will show you afters :D

About time some long time members used it and gave there honest opinions...sometimes it's like talking about Robin hood with unifinish on here is real or is it a myth
I used it only once and hated it,it hung for 4 hrs or more.
The best bit was i left a quarter Bag in van for 6 months so it would flash set for Small Jobs.that was only use to me.

Was the 4 hours the reason you hate it though you must obviously had plenty of time to trowel it up.
Seriously though donzo I don't know why it was this long and have had a few go on 4 hours ish I posted a thread about long set times hoping people would share and maybe conclude some reasons why this might happen sometimes but the thread didn't take off

Yes,the setting time was ridiculous,it was on a painted plasterboard walls, and I could have done the room cheaper and quicker with multi or board finish, pva etc,, that day.
I welcome it can be used without pva but it is far too slow for me at setting.
It was not a cold day or wet etc,,
Fair enough maybe I should not be so critical only used on one job.(y)

I never had the plumbs to get any today for tomorrow ceiling . Guna try it an wall an see how like it first.

Big uni fan now. The consistency is like using multi with a drop of pva added, i.e. a bit gloopy. Yes it can hang when the substrate isn't too dry/porous but it's getting to know the product and when to use it and when not to. One of the pluses for me is feathering into a painted wall, no more trying to blend where the pva finishes, just fire it on and blend where you like, f**k**g love that aspect of it. Also, being a domestic spread mainly, gives me the option of doing two jobs at two locations in a day, no hanging around waiting for pva, eating up the day. As for the finish, it seems to be less gritty than multi and if you hit the sweet spot it's a better finish imo. No more dragging on wet pva either. Only slight minus is that when you pva something if it peels it bubbles you know in advance what might happen when you start laying on. With uni you don't know until you start first coating.

Welcome good sir,

A plasterer or an employee of bg?
I have used this also, and I can tell you and others that using this does not speed any job up as on artex it hangs around longer than if I use pva and skim, also just to note on Matt painted walls it goes off so damn quick your fighting all the while to save a 10m2 wall so you lose time here as your not able to put anywhere near as much on.
And for the record I like many do quite often do two jobs in two locations on the same day and still be home for 4pm.

Thanks for your efforts though.

What's all this 2 jobs on 1 daymalarky!!!

I think in over 15 yrs I may have done that twice nahhh I'm lying probably once

So I have lets say one ceiling to skim and finished by midday rather than say right I'm off home I'll have arranged to do another similar job in the afternoon thus earning more than I would usually on 1 job. But I only do domestic work,

I'm not saying I do 50m on one site then do the same on another lol like some appear to have suggested @Pagey

Hahaha only on a wind up cos normally when someone says that the meter eaters appear and say they do 600sqm a day it was all in jest and cos I do domestic I find all the sheeting up just as long on each job as actually doing the jobs hence why i spread my work out over a week instead of doing 2 jobs a day I worked for an insurance firm who expected me to go drive across London at 3pm and go start another job now for that ridiculous but they didn't think so

To be fair unless it's the house next door it's quite hard to fit two different jobs in a day by time you've finished first ceiling and cleaned up etc then get to the next job, get all set up its getting on 1 - 2pm means your not getting home till well after 5. I've already refreshed the forum 30 thousand times by 5

come on fella you are joking right, efficiency and organisation is all it takes

Not saying it can't be done, i've done it plenty of times. But if its two jobs in occuppied houses its not always as easy to just get in and out as quickly as you could in an empty house or a job you had already set up the day before.

I make sure my money's covered on one job these days hate the aggro of sheeting up and cleaning up personally

I'm the same mate. Sometimes a 10m2 ceiling can take the best part of a day. I personally love to plaster kitchen ceilings after the new units have been fitted :muyenojado: Spend more time covering everything in polythene than you do actually plastering

Hahah yeah love that when they say can you skim round units can't get the bed out or its upstairs and have to sheet everywhere up I've learnt my lesson a job is a job for me regardless we technically in the messiest job ever one drop can end up up the garden path if not sheeted up,if people can do it fine but it's not what I wanna be doing

For me it's not about just earning a wage it's about making as much money as possible. I always look to beat the previous years earnings, just making do will not do for me.

Yeah but the idea is to work smarter not harder pal
