Exactly thats why sometimes you have to charge a full day just for one ceiling

But you obviously never read what I said properly if I do two jobs in one day I will have earned 50% more than if I did just one job, I probably have around 3-4 of these days a month, and always they are by far easier days as well

I get what you mean mate, I follow window fitters alot who have damaged roughcasting when fitting new windows, pretty much a couple of patches here and there which I charge a minimum fee for I can catch 4 or 5 of these a day and can earn more doing that than reskimming a room. Like you say a much easier day and more money . All I was saying sometimes its not possible to fit in two jobs in the one day especially with skimming.

Is that not stalking :sorprendido3:

I say to people leave in the room things that you dont mind getting damaged! Or if im in a mood i ask if they would empty it for the carpet fitter?
As for tw jobs in a day id rather fit one in on a saturday morning, its enough putting dust sheets down and up again on one job in a day!

Personally the logistics of it just seem a pain and why work to stress always work better when you ain't chasing say you book them two jobs in something goes wrong on first job the embarrassment of having to call that 2nd person to say you won't get there is enough for me not to want to do that anymore

What's the big deal with sheeting up lol, I don't see it as any sort of drama, I use wickes polythene sheets put them down and cover over whatever needs doing then end of job roll up straight in the bin no mess no vacuuming required job done.

Again who mentioned stress, stress btw is just for the weak minded, when I have these days they are I shall say again easier than a full day at 1 job.

Obviously what I find easy others find hard but equally accept some things I find a pain others will not, that's life

I'm a big uni fan now but I wouldn't use on artex .on Friday night used it on a small wall pulled In instantly so I went straight over again waited 10 mins then over again !3 coats but it worked a treat in the end .

I have done a couple of jobs a day in the past... even if its just a case of setting up and gluing for the next day

@gps I'm rarely home before 4pm each day, 7.30pm last Friday, in fact I said to the customer a lot of spreads I know would've gone home couple of hours ago, but I want that sweet spot for the final trowel. I often take 1.5 days on a job where a lot of spreads will quote 1 day, I lose money, but I'm proud of my work and the way I approach it. I suffer with severe bouts of depression and stress, but whilst debilitating I don't see it as being "weak" thankfully society is changing slowly and more and more agree.

I wish you all the best ..the review you did earlier was spot on honest and it's obvious to me you have gave uni a fair shot in terms of using it on more than a couple of occasions.
There are always going to be people who don't want to use new products which is a shame because as you said and I have found out if the uni is on the van it can be used to make more money from jobs and make work easier which is all I want and care about.

Working late and taking half a day longer. Sounds like you need to start quoting two days instead.

@theplasterman. Cheers, yes, I come on here because I'm always looking for new tips and don't believe in giving it the bravado my cock's bigger than your cock nonsense. There was that mad video of a guy slapping on render with a saucepan, I haven't done that yet, but I did buy a saucepan to use as a bucket trowel and it's superb, glides off, hawk full each time, it's that sort of thing this site is useful for. Good luck to you too. @beddy yes it might seem a bit odd, but I've always gone for the take your time to get it smack on rather than breaking your neck to do a day and a bit job in one day. I charge £170 day rate and £100 for half day. Could charge the full rate as I know some of my regulars would pay but I'm not cutthroat enough I guess. Cheers.

It's business mate. If you're doing a real long day then having to go back half a day the next day its two days work so charge two days. People wont give a f**k when you take 10 mins to get out of bed in the morning and are riddled with arthritis.

I see where you're coming from beddy, I often look at a job and think I could do that in a day if I hammer it and maybe do one less trowel and I know it would be acceptable to customer. I still do the extra half day though to get it plush and not burn myself out (again.lol) but another guy quotes the job for one day, say £220 all in and I then go and quote £390 for charging 2 full days. It's not easy. Unless it's some of the wealthy show off brigade I work for, then sometimes I'll reduce an old dear's quote and add it to ole claret nose's that gives me immense satisfaction, but then again I am a Looney left socialist.

A looney left socialist I'm surprised you ain't working for free

It's irrelevant what other people are quoting. I couldnt care less if im double what everyone else has quoted. My price is my price because a) thats what I feel I'm worth and b) ive charged for the correct amount of time. I dont knock any off for anyone unless they are extremely close friends or immediate family. I have no interest in saving mr singh £50.

Infact I priced one wall in a box room for a school friend last night. Havent seen him in probably 15 years. Told him £100. Will do it in a couple of hours after work one night. He asked if I could do it for £80. Said no. He still wants me to do it. Thats pretty much the only time I would work late when its an extra earner.

You are also a wind up merchant whose leader looks like a s**t Obi Wan Kinobi !!

They all crawl out of the woodwork when they want something

On this thread alone I'm going to start charging more I ain't a charity I'm a craftsman of the highest order :numberone:

Obi wan...brilliant, that's bang on marshy. Type Jeremy Corbyn shorts into Google images, f**k**g class. Whatever you think of our leader, he's real. Promise no wind ups, I really do reduce people's quotes that might be struggling if I can stick it on a posh t**t's bill. Good to hear the opinions on this though, has got me thinking...rates just gone up £10 a day, thanks guys.
