Right, time to come clean. It appears that you all think i'm twenty something.......i'm 44 and will be 45 next month!
I should make it to a ripe old age, as a newbie i've hardly worn out my wrists, elbows or shoulders!
Oh, I have a heart condition too, but don't panic excercise is proving good for me!

I do go quite well for an ill old boy though!

Of course I work for the money, but money isn't as important as it was a few years ago, the kids are growing up now and less dependant.
I just want to practise what I know but do it better than I am allowed to do now.

u will be fine dont mind fanneyman dont know how he got to be a moderater no suport there must suck off danny or something

Why are you not allowed to do it better at the moment?

Because the Boss would rather be at home than work, is probably the honest answer!
I would prefer to stay behind and add a little more attention to detail & clean up better but i'm just the 'improver/labourer'.

Ignore Flynny, it went straight over my head and wasn't even directed at me!

I appreciate your comments wether they are what I want to hear or not.

I really don't see the problem with a 'Tradesman' turning up in a well presented estate car. Who needs the running costs of two vehicles especially when just starting out?
You can always stick some magnetic signs on it whilst using it for work and remove them at weekends?
I thought an estate car was just a small van with windows anyway???

If your going to go it alone do it the modern way, the way most people seem to do it nowadays.

Set up a company, get a van and all your tools.Advertise, get loads of work. Then learn how to plaster.

I have been slowly ticking those boxes for years ,just the last one to go :RpS_unsure:

i havent had a van since we had kids :(, misses doesnt drive, cant really afford for her to go to work with having kids.. nor can i afford to run 2 vehicles, have been looking into it recently tbh. thinking a tranny connect or similar..

im looking at the vauxhall combo spankyson the connect is gutless apparently and lookin at the specs the combo takes more weight and has a bigger load space
i think with the combo your ok aslong as you get the cdti with the red ti then it will have the 1.7 isuzu engine and not the crappy 1.3 fiat engine

Ok, I think i've got a plan coming together.......

If I give the Boss Monday - Friday, I could book 'my' little jobs at the weekends. If the job is large enough & can support both of us then I can bring the Boss in on it. Fair?

I think he will be fine with it if I bring him in on every job. The problem is that I don't think every job will be able to support both our wages:RpS_unsure:
I don't think he will wear a pay cut because he is helping me with 'my' work.

i would think twice before i purchased an other vauxhall, we had the vauxhall outback, made for the oz market, but the order was cancelled so they where sold in uk. a rust bucket with a very poor, and expensive fuel pump

Do you polish that brass neck every night? :rolleyes)

I guess my confidence has grown over time. I'm not going to feel guilty over trying hard, watching & learning, oh.......and earning the Boss a few quid to boot.
I see my forthcoming move as an opportunity to put my new learned skills to the ultimate test.
Time will tell I suppose.

If i was your old boss i be piissed off to be honest...not that you were going it alone, but how you seem to be a bit patronizing and condescending towards it it all.

Do everyone a favor just be straight and say you have a job to do.

To be honest goldie, if I was only on the trowel less than a year.I would have serious concerns in regards to going it alone in these tough times.Safety in numbers an all that.

Your right. This is why I have decided to travel Monday - Friday, when I move, to work as I am. But book in my own jobs at the weekend.
