    Internal Render - newbie question

all depends on what you are going on weather it be old, damp or other, as a guide two coat your work scratch coat, next lay your second coat on rule it off to what you want, shut it down with your float allow it to hazel off then rub it up with your float until you have it where you want, just...

    skimming on board

same consistency,or less round than the fist gauge, provided you have let the first inns to hazel off, if the job is smallish then you can put the left over mix back in the bucket with some water and remix it. Some on here will say (no! no! goes against the nvq trust me it is ok to do it) but...

    sika ???

I try to avoid sika it tends to make the mix flat n dead ,hard to spread it! there are just as good products on the market, you must make a good dence render:( sharp sand not soft sand ) mix 3.1 if your doing damp remedial work. you can also buy pre packed renders with all the addetives in it...

    sliding top coat

it sounds like you used a lot of water to lay your 1st ins down, and it has gone in to far, so when you trowel the 2nd ins you have lost the board suction, and it will slide around as if on wet pva. hope this helps...

    Things must be bad

i am on my builder.com quoted about 12 jobs, and never got one job, i don't bother with it now its a waste of time, if you pay them you can put up to 4 "happy costomer feedbacks" on there so when someone is looking for trades they will see people with feedbacks first
  16. P

Should I have known better ??

did the skim separate from the pva as you applied it? also the walls are getting cleaned by contract cleaners, with "polish" on every thing! that will cause the pva to separate on application, if that's the case then run some s/c through your pva, and do not apply if pva has dried always apply...

oasis hello m8, over the years I've done loads of them jobs, going by the photo's i would definitely float out in bonding first, i wouldn't even think about trying to bring it out in 3 coats of skim. the way to go is, patch up all areas that need dubbing out with a bit of fast bonding, then bead...

    Rendering over paint

hello sassy, you could paste the brickwork up with a slurry of sand cement and a pva, then render it up or dry line it. we normally use a powdered dry wall adhesive and not that stuff in that clip i would think that tubed stuff would be expensive.
