I've had some de lamination issues
I've found a stronger resin and I'll have a MK2 out before you know it
Barbers always keep a strop close by. Used regularly you'd never need to hone again unless you got a dink in the edge

Well, I'm old school, but try anything if it's make process, quality product better.I have tried towels, speed skims etc,,
Looking at spats now, but for a one man band is all these gadgets really a rocket forward.
I ain't convinced.
My mt has coped with evertything all over 30 years.!
The s*p*r*lex kinder does everything the plastic does but better... although the last 4m2 I did I used the nela plastic and that came out really well....I've tried 2 things that I thought were worth trying to see if they give me a advantage
Sponge float, messy, rough, didn't really help in any situation in my opinion if you cant keep up with it dont lay it on.
And R plaziflex.
I swore by this for about 12 months, thought it was amazing.
I would lay on with my steel and flatten and finish with then plastic and thought it finished lovley, seemed to be effortless.
Then I done 3 renovations In a row each one needing more and more work on the skim to achieve a decent finish, with my relaxed (lazyer) approach from using the plastic trowel the final finish was getting worse and worse, it looked good but bumpy when painted.
I went through 6 plastic blades, always snagging them and sanding them blah blah blah.
On the 3rd house I used my trusty old Marshalltown start to finish and everything was perfect all the sets felt more manageable and the edges were square as hell.(the plastics had a tendency to mould to whatever shape it wanted to).
My conclusion you cant beat a steel trowel all these new things seem amazing at first but in the long run your steel will look after you.
I couldn't comment on speedskim as I've never used it.
That's my 2 pence anyway.
I think the speedskim and spats certainly do make the job easierWell, I'm old school, but try anything if it's make process, quality product better.I have tried towels, speed skims etc,,

So are you saying youre set goes off quicker by flattning with speedskim sooner?. The basic setting time hasnt changed.
I going to Grimsby in June to show @flynnyman and then down to show @scottie5 a few days later how to use them I could pop over your way on me travel'sAnd 3 years later the conversation is still going strong. Do floppy bits of plastic and floppy trowels rule off sand and cement and make me skim more
Used mine for the 2nd time today, f**k**g love it. Nearly fell asleep in the van waiting to trowel up though. No it hasn't, but by using the speedskim to flatten you have more time to do other things like drink tea

Impossible!
You would think reading half this s**tImpossible!
Never read so much bullshit.Plastering is quite a simple but skilful trade.Skimming is very simple you spread it on FLAT then you give it a second coat FLAT.Then you trowel it up.Simple really. The only things over the years that have made this job easier are 1:Stick on scrim 2:Electric drills. And yes I have tried speedskim etc and although they flatten walls in my case I don't need to as I put it on FLAT in the first place.Rant over happy easter it's cider time.
Twice and a Polish if it needs a Polish. Been doing it 40 years so don't need to be told I'm doing it wrong and the speedskim enables you to do it with 1/2 a trowel because it's brilliant. Like I said if you do it flat in the first place you won't go far wrongHow many times do you trowel it.
I was taken the piss mate I totally agree with you.Twice and a Polish if it needs a Polish. It just makes me laugh all these young pups wasting money on something that probably helps them but is totally unnecessary if they were taught properly in the first place. scrim and mixers are the only improvements that have been beneficial over the years and I was using machines in Germany in the early 80's so they're not that new eitherI was taken the piss mate I totally agree with you.
