Wondered about the comments from Kirk. See the copied youtube comments below.
Would they use different sand/cement in Down Under.
FIXIT

Kirk Giordano plastering Inc
Good evening fix it, I'd stop...
Starting up soon. Do you think a 1 Plasterer and 1 labourer will be to slow. Its going to be private houses anything between 2000 and 3000 sq ft houses.
Prob been discussed before but can’t find the info. Was thinking of going back to the old way I used to render. 6:1:1 Sand:cement:lime. Anyone else still use lime and for what reason
Any of you guys use a plastering darby for anything. The legend kirk Giordano uses it all the time for his stucco. Would love to use one for a traditional sand & cement render but there's no way you could straighten properly with the we thing.
I was setting fence posts and run out of sand, i mixed cement through a bucket of muck. It didnt go off one bit. Had to come back another day lol. Not plastering related but mixing mortor.
whats the best way to give the render the course look. Does a wet sponge bring out the sand. After rubbing it up its very smooth. Just would like the top coat to be more gritty looking after rubbing it.
i cut the 45 as normal then cut the top flat. Made a we device to cut the top flat without having to mark it.
yes it is a heavy base. I scratched the house, then put on a 1 coat angle bead on the corners then put roofing lath on top of that as my depth.
Does anyone here think there should be a 1-2 mm gap between the 8x4 sheets we use.
The square ended sheets that go tight can move. I reckon there should be a gap.
Great idea. Go for it yourself. Keep us updated and don’t forget to be nice to the lads. They will prob be at your house getting paid in the near future.
Just out of curiosity. Are you a plasterer
Have to put a raised base on also. Needs to be thicker than normal. Normally go the thickness of a roofing lath. How thick is too thick before running into problems. Prob need done in 3 coats.
